Artist Statement
My portfolio consists of all of the projects we have done this semester and also some from last semester. I feel that I did a pretty good job at getting all my projects turned in and in the right order. I feel over all my portfolio has turned out really good. During this semester I think that i learned alot this semester. The thing I learned the most was how to add things in the picture things very well. The thing I feel I was most successful with would have to be my ideas. All my ideas were excellent in my opinion and it showed through most of my pictures. The thing I struggled with the most would have to be blending. I don’t think I did to well on that because many of my pictures came out slightly blurry. I think I need to get a better understanding on that so it can help me to improve on picture taking. The thing that has influenced me most is really just the person I am inside. In the pictures I wanted the real me to be captured so people could actually see the person I am. The area that I feel I have improved best in was incorporating my ideas into my photographs better. I put a lot of effort into most of my projects. I think I am slowly but surely starting to get the hang of photoshop.

Light Metering

We experimented with light metering in these photo's. To do this we turned the lights off in the room, turning only one computer screen on per person. Then we pointed the camera clsoe to the computer screen and let the camera adjust to the light on the computer. We then pulled away and took a picture of our group partner. We noticed in the picture that it came out light because the camera adjusted to the bright computer screen and nothing else.
In the second picture we did something simiar except we placed the camera next to our partners face and pulled away making the person look brighter and the computer screen being REALLY BIGHT.

Personal Metaphor
In this project I wanted to express what I felt in a way that was understandable. I feel it expresses what I wanted to say. During my high school years i've noticed how much people look down at me and other high school students. I feel like this project can relate to many teenagers/ high school students. Trying to move on with your life, and pursue goals and dreams can be hard when I am presieved as another ordianary imature high school student. I see my self as a person trying to break away from that "imature" stereotype.I placed the words specifically in a way that it looks like there falling or looking down. I placed my head on an ants body because ants are often looked down on in society. I have my partner lookin down at me explaining how i feel. I also have myself placed on a blade of grass as if I were crawling like an ant. I think I could have combined my head and the ants body a little better than i did.

The Aesthetic Experience

In this photo is a cup of water after drops of diferent colored food die was applied to the water. This experience made me think of how beauty often becomes poluted with many of the bad things in society. As the red and yellow foor die started to mend together, I though of the sunset and how beautiful it is. Then after the green die was applied thought of how the earth is being poluted and how it takes away from the beauty such as the sunset more and more everyday.

Movie Moments
Inspired by Cindy Sherman, a contemarary photogragher who took photos of herself starring in movies that never existed.
Movie Title: The Hamptons Meets the Hood
Genre: Romance
Movie Summary: This movie is based on love and how hard it is to be with the one you want to be with. It’s about a rich white boy named Tommy from the Hamptons and a black girl named Jayda from the hood. These two characters are in love with each other but don’t know about it. They are scared to let one another know because either way Tommy’s parents will not approve because of how Jayda looks and where she is from. Jayda one day found out that Tommy had liked her and was so anxious to let him know she felt the same. She met up with him to let him know and they found out they felt the same about each other and began dating. After a while Jayda started wondering why Tommy was meeting her parents but she never got to meet his. One day he went out and got her some really nice clothes so that she could wear them when she met his parents. To Jayda it seemed as though he felt ashamed of who she is and was upset so she didn’t want to take the clothes. After explaining the whole thing she then understood and accepted the clothes. She looked beautiful and was glad to have finally met Tommy’s parents.

Random Object
We ere each assigned a random object to photograph. We could choose to have it in color or back & white. We were to focus on "The Three C's"According to my peers, one thing i did well was that i used the macro feature well to really capture the detail in the handle of the umbrella. It aslo creates a shiny effect on the side of the handle reflecting the side of the umbrella.
And one thing they suggested i work on was capturing more of the main part of the umbrella.
I agree with at they say because the main part of the umbrella is blurry in the background and is not the main focus of the photograph.

Egg Challenge
In this project each student was given an egg to photograph. We were to take a photo in both color and black-and-white. We were supposed to exemplify one or more of the following: Creativity, Craftsmanship or Composition.I believe my color photograph was the most successful because the egg creates unity with both the cactus and the tree in the background. I also believe this photograph is successful because it has great contast and colors between the egg and the cactus.
